What is sustainability? • A characteristic of a process or state that can be maintained at a certain level indefinitely • Practices that would ensure the continued viability of a product or practice well into the future • The ability to maintain balance of a certain process or state in any system

Context of your Health Care Environment…REFORM • NHHRC – change is inevitable • How do your partners view change? • Fearful, excitement, threatened, cynical, in denial?? • How will this effect what you can achieve from here forward • Suggested key messages… • Use patient journey as safe universal language • Systems will be the same no matter who owns them • Work locally – let the politics take care of itself • Remember that nothing is certain except death and taxes!
