  2. Location Bologna Freight Village is an integrated system of logistics infrastructure for rail, road and intermodal freight transport. It covers a surface of 2,000,000 square meters, of which 585,000 square meters intended for RFI / rail freight companies use. A gradual expansion to additional 2,270,000 square meters is in progress. The freight village is placed on the north/ south traffic line along which passes 35% of goods crossing the Italian peninsula. It is located in a strategic position within the priority axe 1 (Berlin-Palermo) of the European TEN-T.

  3. The freightvillageconnections • Road: exit on highway A13, connection with highway A1; • Rail: rail tracks connected to the national line Bologna Padua-Venice; • Airports: Bologna and Milan Airports; • Ports: ports for domestic and international trade of Ravenna, Genoa, La Spezia, Livorno.

The freightvillagefacilities • The Bologna freight village currently has and offers to potential clients : • 5 large scale warehouses for logistics; •  storage warehouses; •  18 warehouses with road/road interchange ramps provided with offices; • 4 warehouses with rail/road interchange ramps provided with offices; •  Customs center; •  business center; •  bulk cargo terminal; •  intermodal and container terminal; •  parking areas and yards. • The Bologna freight village is the first to be wired throughout Europe. • All the buildings are connected to an optical fiber communication network.

The freightvillageservices In the freight village is played every type of logistics and intermodal freight service, usually handled directly by the inside companies and not settled by the managing company Interporto Bologna SpA . It offers services such as transportation service, parking, fueling and washing, and a maintenance system for containers. It has 3 terminals (330,000 sq m total), two are reserved by FerroviedelloStato (an intermodal terminal of 147,000 square meters and a container terminal of 130,000 square meters) and a bulk terminal, operated by a private company. It is equipped with storage areas (80,000 TEU's), mobile handling equipment (8 cranes) and 31 tracks connected to the rail lines. The freight village provides, finally, all the ancillary services such as toilets, restaurants, bank, post office.

The freightvillage main rail connections served Each week there are a lot of trainsdeparting and arriving from/to the major nationaltradecenters, otherfreightvillages and portssuchas Bari, Taranto, Naples, Livorno, La Spezia, Milan, Verona, Novara, Padua, Ravenna, etc.. The freightvillageislinkedalsoto some internationalrailwayroutesto Europe and northern Europe, passers-byBrenner, from Trieste and Tarvisio.
