  3. AUT-BIB Connections • Consult and copy during cataloging • Enrichment of BIB headings and words indexes with cross-references and multi-lingual synonyms • Update of BIB records • Enrichment of BIB display • Display of linked authority records from a BIB heading

  4. 008 and Appropriateness • Is the heading appropriate? • pos.14 - Is the heading appropriate for use as main/added entries? • Pos.15 - Is the heading appropriate for as subject entries? • Pos.16 - Is the heading appropriate for as series entries ? • a (or c) = yes • b = no • e.g. 008 L 821204n|-acannaab-----------|a-aaa-eng--

  5. UPD Field • Should the authority record be used to automatically update bibliographic records? • UPD Y - update bibliographic record • UPD N - don’t update bibliographic record • Absence of UPD is treated as UPD Y.
