Case Google Mail

This guide outlines the transition to Case Google Mail and Apps, including Google Docs, Sites, and future services. Current services like Sun iPlanet Mail and Oracle Calendar are being replaced. Students should migrate to Google Mail now, with newly admitted students pre-provisioned for Fall 2009. Faculty and staff can opt in and are encouraged to transition by January 2010. Case Google Mail • Keep first.last@case.edu , abc123@case.edu, and any aliases • No advertisements like a personal gmail account • Continue using Outlook, Eudora or Thunderbird • Point to Google Apps server rather than iPlanet • Do It Yourself instructions on Case GA web page • Web Access – go to http://webmail.case.edu rather than http://mail.case.edu

How to move your department • Do an inventory of faculty and staff: • IMAP or POP? • Eudora, Thunderbird, Outlook, web interface • Latest updates or versions? • ITS will help “train the trainer” (department admins and students) on proper steps • ITS will support move to Case Google Mail • PerceptIS will support users
