  2. Cristie Software • Leading software provider specialising in data protection, machine recovery, migration and availability • IBM recommended BMR solution for TSM • Worldwide reseller channel including IBM, Avnet, SHI and a global network of leading resellers • 2,000 end users including over 100 of the Global Fortune 500 (2012) Companies • Particularly strong in finance, healthcare, public sector manufacturing and retail • All major platforms supported – Windows, Linux, AIX and Solaris

  3. What is BMR? Bare Machine Recovery (BMR) is a term used for the recovery of a machine to new (bare) hardware. Recovery includes the operating system and application configurations. A rebuild can take several hours and can require a high level of technical knowledge. Machine failure may be caused by a failure of the server hardware (disk or controller failure, physical damage, loss of power etc.) or a corruption of the operating system or applications (virus, user or disk errors etc.) TSM (and other BAR software) does not provide BMR functionality and System Administrators therefore need to manually reinstall and configure the operating systems, middleware and applications. The re-installation process can take hours and has many steps that require technical skills, license keys, installation disks and knowledge. The new machine will also be different to the original.

  4. CBMR (Cristie Bare Machine Recovery) TBMR (Bare Machine Recovery for TSM) NBMR (NetWorker Bare Machine Recovery) ABMR (Avamar Bare Machine Recovery) CM (CloneManager) All BMR products support Windows, Linux, AIX and Solaris Products

  5. Introducing TBMR • Bare Machine Recovery for TSM • Sold by IBM worldwide • Integrates seamlessly with TSM • Recovers direct from TSM backups • BMR is not built into TSM • TBMR offers one common recovery infrastructure and management. No need to deploy multiple OS specific recovery tools TBMR is the ONLY software that can recover direct from the TSM server without performing a separate backup

  6. TBMR Features TBMR recovers: in under 10 minutes to dissimilar hardware P2P, P2V, V2P, V2V, V2C, C2V, C2P, P2C and C2C an exactly identical machine fully automatic if required from both TSM incremental and image backups to any point in time that is available in TSM TBMR supports: Windows, Linux, AIX and Solaris machines all TSM server and BA clients versions currently supported by IBM

  7. TBMR – Install Process C P V Configure TSM BA Client for open file support and ensure BA Client is backing up all OS data P V C C P V Add Presched Command to the TSM options file to ensure tbmrcfg.exe runs during every TSM backup Source Systems can be Physical, Virtual or Cloud Install TBMR onto source servers (pre-req: TSM BA Client is installed) Create bootable media = 1 per OS TSM backup TSM Server

  8. TBMR – Restore Process P V C Boot target environment into Cristie Recovery Console P V C What to test your TSM backups AND reduce your DR testing overhead? try our Recovery Simulator add-on for TBMR P V C TSM Server Restore System Connect to TSM

  9. Value Proposition • Improves recovery times and points • Servers restored in minutes versus hours • Multiple servers can be restored simultaneously • Can restore to any point in time that is available from TSM • Ensures reliability of the recovery process • Simplifies and automates the recovery process • Reduces the number of HA/clustering environments • No additional product knowledge required – reducing training • Can be used to create machine clones for testing or migration • Reduces storage and system requirements • Saves storage and network bandwidth – no additional backup • No separate backup software to install, schedule and manage

  10. Why should you sell TBMR? • Provides additional sales opportunities for existing TSM base • Adds value and functionality to new TSM deals • Can be licensed on capacity when sold with TSM for Unified Recovery • e-TBMR available for smaller deals • Can purchase from IBM or Cristie Software directly • IBM commission is available for selling TBMR • Ability to make good margins on selling support • Support available – we can present to customers on your behalf or provide presentations and marketing material for you to use

  11. How to sell TBMR? Direct: Email sales@cristie.com for a quote that you can send to your customer Or via IBM – Use Product Codes: List price of US$700 For country specific costs, EMEA product codes and any applicable discounts please email sales@cristie.comfor up-to-date information
