  1. Types Of Outdoor Bike Racks And Their Description Bike racks are essential for keeping the bikes in a proper position and with full support. There are however several types of outdoor bike racks that can be used. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages and can be used accordingly. Bike racks are essential to keep the bikes with proper support. The bikes have a chance of falling and getting damaged due to inadequate support. Therefore if you cannot find shelter, it is important that you at least find a bike rack. Attractive bike racks can be installed by the business establishments for their workers. There are mainly three types of bike racks that are available in the market: hitch mounted, strap on and roof-mounted. Each of these has its advantages and disadvantages.  Hitch mounted racks: As the name suggests, they attach to the hitch at the back of the vehicle and are of two types mainly: 1.The class 1 carriers that are compatible with a wide variety of cars and small sports utility vehicles. They can hold up to more than three bikes depending upon their design that you select. 2.Class 3 carriers have been designed for use with pickups and large SUVs and they can hold rather a larger number of bikes as compared to the former type. However, these cannot be used on smaller vehicles without any expensive modifications. These carriers are simple to install and there are very rare chances of accidentally scratching the paint of any vehicle while the bikes are being mounted. But of proper installation is not done then they can also block the rear windows, thereby increasing the chances of an accident while the driver is reversing the vehicle.  Strap on trunk-mounted racks: These racks have their carriers attached with the straps to the trunk, rear bump or the hatchback. They can carry up to three bikes and come with padded or plastic-coated frame supports to protect the bicycles from any other damage. These racks are cheaper to install and store whenever not in use. They offer great versatility and can be used virtually on any model. It, therefore, makes them suitable for leased vehicles.  Roof-mounted tracks:These are attached to the vehicle’s upper door frames or the rain gutters or wherever available. They are also cheap and depending upon the size of the vehicle, up to seven bicycles can be carried easily. Moreover, a special case can be added if extra storage space for the tools and other types of equipment is required. When the rack is not being used for holding the bikes, it can also be used for carrying the canoes and skis. Each of the racks has its advantages and disadvantages. When one goes for the installation of any of these, the seller makes them aware of what is best for their area. This way the best outdoor racks can be installed.
