  2. Periods – use a period: • At the end of a declarative sentence. (makes a statement) Ex. My brother delivers newspapers. • At the end of an imperative sentence. (requests or tells someone to do something) Ex. Please close the door. • At the end of an indirect question. Ex. She asked us if we liked strawberries.

  3. Use a period: • after an abbreviation or initial. Ex. Dr.Marla E.Henderson P. O. Box 2:30 P. M. • after each number or letter that shows a division of an outline or precedes an item in a list. Ex. 1. eggs 2. milk • in numerals between dollars and cents. Ex. $19.55

  4. Use a question mark: • at the end of an interrogative sentence (asks a question) Ex. Has anyone seen my dog? What are you doing afterschool?

  5. Use an exclamation point: • at the end of an exclamatory sentence (expresses strong emotion) Ex. Tim, look out! • after an interjection or after any other exclamatory expression. Ex. Hurrah! Wow!
