Teacher Tips:

  • Point out that the packaging is shaped like a hexagonal prism because that is the shape that requires the least amount of packaging material so it is more practical to the manufacturer.

  • Mention that a hexagon can be thought of as two trapezoids one of which is reflected over another. This will help the students later on visualizing the resulting figure when they do folds on their paper plate.
