The significance of the construction of the Second track Divača–Koper railway line • Rapidly growing demand for transportation of freight between Port of Koper and hinterland countries (more than 6% per year in last 10 years) • In 2018 therailway line beetwen Divača – Koper wassaturated • Second Track Project will eliminate an important bottleneck of the core Mediterranean and Baltic-Adriatic TEN-T corridors. • The Second Track is vital for positioning of Slovenia as a key European transit country as well as for increasing competitiveness of rail transport compared to environmentally and operationally costly road traffic.

  11. KeyMilestonesoftheproject 1. March 2016: 2TDK company was established by the Government of Republic of Sloveniaandbuildingpermitwasissued. 2. July 2018: Act regulating the investment of the second railway track from Divača. 3. January 2019: Investment programme was adopted by the Government of the RepublicofSlovenia. 4. May 2019: The Concession Agreement between 2TDKand the Government of the Republic of Slovenia was signed. 5. May 2019: EIB BoardofDirectorsapproved a loan of up to 250 million euros to 2TDK. 6. May-September 2019: Greatinterestofcommercialbanksfor 167 millionloan to 2TDK. 7. Avgust 2019: ServiceLevelAgreementwith SŽ Infrastruktura signed

  12. Current state of the project - preparatory works in progress 1.Geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological surveys. 2. Archaeological surveys. 3. Executive design(in progress). 4.Access roads will be constructedbyJune 2020. 5. Construction of structures for bridging Glinščica Valleywill start in march 2020. 6. Constructionofmainstructureswill start in Q3 2020.
