  1. Welcome to the First Beta Meeting of 2013-2014!!!!!!

  3. What is Beta? Beta is a national organization created to foster leadership and encourage service A successful Beta member is one that will be able to give back to the community, grow in character and become a leader of the future!
  4. Fundraising Beta club has a very unique fundraising, in regards to the fact that we don’t sell candy (WOOHOO!!!) Instead we fundraise by selling Entertainment books They sell for $30 and are not sticky, messy, heavy and do not melt (like chocolate) People will save HUNDREDS of dollars by using the coupons! Every Beta member is required to sell at least one book. However, you are encouraged to sell more. If you sell 3 or more, there are prizes from the company!!!
  5. You can set up your own account on entertainment.com You can email friends and family members about the sale – and books are available for towns all over the country! Show them to EVERYONE! Remember to ask teachers, administrators and other TBT staff. People get double coupons – one in the book and one on line!
  6. Hours Beta is a national club, and thus has standards that must be kept Every member has two options Complete 50 hours of Beta Events Complete 25 hours of Beta Events and attend two leadership conferences
  7. Leadership Conferences What: These conferences are mandatory for any member that doesn’t complete the 50 required hours When: The dates for the leadership conferences are still being decided. However, there will be one conference during the first semester and one during the second semester. Both will be on a Saturday Where: TBT
  8. Induction Ceremony – October 10 Very Important: ALL members must attend the Induction Ceremony Arrive promptly at 6:00pm Remember, this is a special event so wear business/dressy clothing You are welcome to bring your parents and siblings too!
  9. Zoo Boo – October 5, October 20 Zoo Boo is an event that Beta has been involved with for years What: Volunteers interact with children and are involved in Halloween-themed games and events When: Volunteer work starts at 5:00 pm, If you plan on attending don’t be late!!! Where: Lowry Park Zoo WATCH FOR AN EVENTBRITE SIGN UP – CHECK YOUR EMAIL DAILY!
  10. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – October 19 This event occurs in the morning, so you can go to both Homecoming and Making Strides!! What: We cheer, yell and support the walkers and as they undertake their long journey When: Please get there by 7:30am. We should be done around 11:00am. Where: Tampa Bay Times Forum THERE WILL BE AN EVENTBRITE SIGN UP FOR THIS!
  11. Homecoming Pep Rally & Game - October 18 Beta has to decide if we want to participate in the Pep Rally and/or Homecoming “parade” Discussion and vote…..
  12. Bras for a Cause – October 22 This year will be the third annual Bras for a Cause Event!!!! What: This is a fundraiser done to raise awareness for Relay for Life. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society When: The actual event takes place on Oct. 22; voting will occur from Oct 23-25 Where: TBT
  13. Trot Thru the Terrace – November 16 Community Event Beta will be helping with registration and at the water stations. When: Nov 16 at 7:00am Where: 405 S. Riverhills dr. (Temple Terrace) THERE WILL BE AN EVENTBRITE SIGN UP FOR THIS!
  14. Beta State Convention – January 27-29. 2014 One of our ultimate goals this year is to get as many students as possible to attend the Beta State Convention The convention will happen in Orlando in the beautiful Florida Hotel! Events include an assortment of different competitions such as quiz bowls, academic competitions, artistic competitions, creative writing, oratory and much more. REGISTRATION IS IN NOVEMBER, SO WE WILL HAVE MORE DETAILS AT THE NEXT MEETING!
  15. Relay for Life - Probably the single biggest Beta Event of the year! When: April 11-12, 2014 Where: Greco Middle School We fundraise ALL YEAR for this cause! Sign up now to be on our team! www.relayforlife.org/templeterracefl Our team name is TBTBeta
