ESA partners in CB, Education & Training activities – Earth Observation In Europe • Universities and public institutes in Europe; other Space Agencies • European associations with an educational mandate like: Earsel, EGU/GIFT In the frame of International Cooperation outside Europe 3. CEOS WGCapD, UN (UNOOSA, FAO, UNESCO..) 4. Space Agencies worldwide 5. International associations with an educational mandate (e.g. SELPER) 6. Africa, China (TIGER, DRAGON Programmes) 8. Countries in Africa and South America cooperating with ESA 9. Development Banks

  4. ESA ESERO project (European Space Education Resource Offices in ESA MS) – secondary school level Target: European students starting from an early age (primary and secondary education) Goal: using the space context to make the teaching and learning of STEM subjects more attractive ESERO offers an annual series of national or regional training sessions for both primary and secondary school teachers, offered in collaboration with national partners Teachers’ workshops; classroom resources; school projects ….

  5. Education in the frame of European cooperation – secondary school level • Forthcoming: joint School Lab with ESA, ASI, DLR, UK National Space Academy, INGV, Universities of Milan and Pavia (2019 Living Planet Symposium • 13-17 May 2019, Milan, Italy) • Demonstrating RS to schools using instruments and demos

  6. Education in the frame of European Cooperation: EGU/GIFT network (secondary school level ) 8-years cooperation with EGU/GIFT (European Geosciences Union GIFT – Geosciences Information for Teachers). Workshops for Secondary School teachers selected worldwide. Enlarged since 2016 to Africa and South America. 2019 edition: ‘Plate tectonics and Earth’s structure – yesterday, today, tomorrow’.

  10. Sentinel Training with the European Commission Upcoming Sentinel training with R.U.S. / European Commission (Research and User Support for Sentinel Products / Service operation – with focus on “training the trainers”)- priority: Europe

EO MOOCs ESA MOOCs (since 2015) : • Climate from Space • Optical Remote Sensing • Monitoring the Greenland Ice Sheet from Space • SAR MOOC “Echoes in Space” (6800 registrations) IN PREPARATION: 1) SAR MOOC “Echoes in Space” Rerun in preparation with Uni Jena and CSA 2) MOOC on Land Use and Land Cover Change (5 runs), Oriented to thematic application (not sensor-oriented), Foster use of all possible EO data (focus on Sentinels), in support of a variety of scientific, operational and societal Land Applications and services.

CCI App & visualisation tool Climate from Space, ESA's iPadApp for visualization of climate data being produced through the European Space Agency's Climate Change Initiative (CCI) • Allows to visualize temporal changes of: • sea surface temperature, • the ice sheets, • sea level, • sea ice, • carbon dioxide, • soil moisture and many more.
