  2. What is CAS? • It stands for: CREATIVITY, ACTION and SERVICE • It is part of the requirements to earn your IB diploma • The ACTION part of CAS also allows you to earn your regular High School diploma in Florida • It is part of the well rounded IB education

  3. Understanding CAS expectations What you need to do

CAS and you Pre – IB IB Students • Choose something you’d like to do in each of the areas (creativity/action/service) • Go to MANAGEBAC and log the activity for approval from the CAS ADVISORS (Ms. Benner (12th/ Madame Ralicki 9-11) • Do the activity, Write your reflection, and get your documents signed, upload your proof… DONE! • Your path is the same, but you must have a few more hours to meet requirements. • Remember to check MANAGEBAC to see messages from your sponsor • Make sure you journal! • Remember, if it’s not FUN, you aren’t doing it right!

The CAS Program • Students must have activities that should involve: • Real, purposeful activities, with significant outcomes • Personal challenge- tasks must extend student and be achievable in scope • Thoughtful consideration, such as planning, reviewing progress, reporting • Reflection on outcomes and personal learning

  7. 8 guidelines to help you succeed! • Increased awareness of own strengths and areas for growth • Undertaken new challenges • Planned and initiated activities • Worked collaboratively with others • Shown perseverance and commitment in their activities • Engaged with issues of global importance • Considered the ethical implications of their actions • Developed new skills • Note: these do not all have to be included in EACH activity, a mix will do!

Managebac is here! • Managebac is our awesome new IB super tracker! • This online system allows you to upload CAS hours, documentation, EE’s, create groups and communicate with teachers and advisors! • 1. Log into managebac • 2. Create a profile (junior/seniors, you’re done!) • 3. Enter an activity. Your CAS sponsor will need to approve this BEFORE it’s done • 4. Do activity, bring your document sheet for a signature • 5. Upload anything associated with the activity (sig. sheet/video/photo etc.) • 6. Check your messages for further instructions!

  10. What you see when you log in… On this screen you will add activities, choose outcomes and upload your documents. Your Sponsor will check and monitor your progress Teachers DON’T TOUCH THIS! Load documents here

  11. Adding your activity When you have added to the first screen, this is your next step. Write a paragraph about how this activity will meet your Learning Outcomes, then click on Reflections to add realia and documentation and do your journaling. Remember: SUPERVISORS are in charge of an ACTIVITY. ADVISORS are in charge of your ACCOUNT and FINAL approval teachers don’t touch! Don’t forget to fill these two pages out!   12. The reflection page This is the page where you really tie in your Learning outcomes and what you did. On this page you will also load photos and video. Your activity cannot be approved without completing this page  Use these as a guideline to write your reflections! Oooo photos!

Hardcopy of Forms for supervisor signatures • These are available on managebac and the school website link under IB • If your supervisor does NOT complete the Email review prompt, you must print these forms, get them signed and scan and upload to your account. • Remember, you must document your OUTCOMES and LEARNING GOALS. • http://southfork.managebac.com/groups/10071007/assets

  14. This is the screen activity SUPERVISORS will see If you supervise a CAS activity, this is the screen you will see, click on the “Complete Supervisor Review button”, fill in the blanks and submit, CAS Advisors will do final approval 
