  12. KEPLER’S OPERATIONAL BASELINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED primary mission extended mission recommendation

  13. PURPOSES OF THE KEPLER EXTENDED MISSION Continue exoplanet survey operation to produce an initial catalog of planet candidates Execute a follow-up observing program that targets planet candidates with radius <2.5 Re Make a determination of ηe Facilitate community participation Build and maintain a legacy archive and support community use of the Kepler data Support community observations with Kepler

  14. LEGACY PHOTOMETRY ARCHIVE IS OPEN • archive.stsci.edu/kepler • No exclusive-use period for any Kepler data in the extended mission • Kepler is a community mission

  15. PyKE DATA REDUCTION SOFTWARE • keplerscience.arc.nasa.gov • keplergo@mail.arc.nasa.gov • cotrending • detrending • stitching

  16. NOMINATE YOUR OWN KEPLER TARGETS FOR OBSERVATION • keplerscience.arc.nasa.gov • keplergo@mail.arc.nasa.gov

  17. CONCLUSIONS CoRoT, Kepler and MOST have bestowed a legacy for testing and furthering theories of stellar structure and evolution across the HR diagram CoRoT is requesting an operations extension through 2015 Kepler will operate until at least 2016 All existing Kepler data become public on Oct 28, 2012 All future Kepler data will be publicly available without proprietary period New Kepler targets can be added through the Guest Observer Program
