  2. What is PTA? Parent Teacher Association We are the largest Child Advocacy Association in America.

  3. 5 Levels of PTA Involvement • Executive Board Member • Chairperson of a Committee • Committee Members • Volunteer at event • PTA Member

  4. 1 Executive Board Manage administration of the organization

  5. Non-administration members Kendall Dees, President Georgia Manolakos, Secretary Julie Aaron, Treasurer Hope O’Kelley, Membership Position Open, VPSafety & Advocacy Position Open, VPCommunications

  6. Administration members Mrs. Baker, Principal Mrs. Harvey, Asst. Principal , Teacher Rep. , Teacher Rep.

  7. 2 Committee Chairs Organize and oversee an event

  8. 3 Committee members In charge of individual aspect of an event. Work as a team.

  9. 4 Volunteer at Event No planning meetings, just come & help out!

  10. 5 PTA Member Show your support for the school and your students!

  11. Collaboration Many hands make light work. Team workwill get us there. Team Work

  13. 1 Help your child.Research shows that children whose parents are involved in their schools perform better academically and have fewer disciplinary problems.

  14. 2 Improve the school. Last year, the support of Highland Lakes Elementary families helped the PTA provide over $20,000 worth of support to the school.

  15. 3 Get connected. At PTA meetings, you’ll hear all about important school and student issues from Principal Baker, teachers as well as PTA Officers.

  16. 4 Make friends.The PTA is a diverse group of parents unified by strong interest in enriching their child’s education. We make friends!

  17. 5 Improve your school IQ.Do you know the Principal, the school nurse, School Guidance counselor?

  18. 6 Be heard. The PTA is a great forum for exchanging ideas to improve our school.

  19. 7 It’s fun! You’ll be a big hit with the kids when you are the PTA representative handing out goodies.

  20. 8 Be a role model. You’ll show your child the value (and fun) of giving back to the community at events like the FALL festival & Spring Fling.

  21. 9 It’s flexible! There are many ways to contribute. Joining does not obligate you to volunteer or attend meetings, although we hope you will!

  22. 10 We need you! Without you and your financial support, there would be no FALL festival, Spring Fling, or ALL the other programs HLE enjoys!
