  • Discuss ways in which the use of media and mobile technologies can contribute to teaching and learning outdoors, and help capture learning that has taken place outside the classroom.

  • Investigate ways of using map tools to enhance teaching and learning in geography

  • Discuss the use of simulations for making sense of complex situations in geography.

  • Consider how findings can be represented through infographics, graphs and charts.

  • Apply some of these techniques to the development of a geography resource on an environmental theme providing challenge in terms of geography and ICT.

Think about how technology can help develop understanding of these aspects of the National Primary Curriculum:

  • Comparing the physical and human characteristics of places

  • Understanding key aspects of physical and human geographical features

  • Analysis and communication of fieldwork data using digital technologies

  • Interpretation of sources of geographical information and maps, including digital mapping

  • Communication of geographical information using a range of methods

Plan a short unit of work around a simulation tool on an environmental theme for pupils in Key Stage 2.

  • KS2 Attainment Target:

    Human and physical geography
