• Follow value chain analysis and need mapping to determine entry point for establishment of IPTA.
• It should be based on the most critical challenge or need to be addressed & the technology / innovation available to do so.
• Selection of entry points a consensus among primary stakeholders

IPTA is a demand-driven participatory approach and can adopt any or combination of the participatory methodologies such as

• PLA – participatory learning and action;
• PCP – participatory community planning;
• FFS – Farmers field school;
• Demonstrations; etc
