  2. Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced recovery program based on eight principles from the Beatitudes that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits. It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory. What is Celebrate Recovery?

  3. John Baker is the founder of Celebrate Recovery, a ministry born out of the heart of Saddleback Church. In 1993, John and Pastor Rick Warren wrote the CR curriculum which has been published and translated into several languages. In 2001, Rick Warren asked John to become the Pastor of Celebrate Recovery. In 2008, Senior Pastor Mark K. Richardson asked Associate Pastor Chris Goodwin to pray about launching this ministry at NLCOG. How did Celebrate Recovery Begin?

  4. Celebrate Recovery was launched at NLCOG five years ago. Through the power of Jesus Christ, testimonies, teachings, accountability partners, sponsors and a safe place to meet, lives have been changed, and people find victory over their pasts. When was Celebrate Recovery Launched at NLCOG?

  5. Anyone who is hurting, has hang-ups and habits that have taken control over their lives. Most people are familiar with the classic 12-Step program of AA and many lives have been helped. At Celebrate Recovery we study the eight principles based on the Beatitudes found in Matthews 5:3-10. Who is Celebrate Recovery For?

  6. At Celebrate Recovery we manage the ministry by the T-E-A-M structure. We have one person responsible for each of the following: T – training – Rev. Sharon Goodwin E – encouraging – Rev. Lois Lukus A – assimilation – Rev. Sharon Price M – ministry leader – Rev. Chris Goodwin Celebrate Recovery Structure

We have monthly meetings and provide trainings which is crucial in order for the T-E-A-M and their apprentice to stay focused, continue to grow together, pray together, and discuss any issues or concerns. The Training Coach works with the Ministry Leader to conduct: New Leader Orientation Step Study Leaders Training Open Share Leaders Training Meetings/Trainings

  8. There are 25 Lessons taught and 25 testimonies given on the topics below. Denial, Powerless, Hope, Sanity, Turn, Action, Moral, Sponsor, Inventory, Spiritual Inventory 1 and 2. Confess, Admit, Ready, Victory, Amends, Forgiveness, Grace, Crossroads, Daily Inventory, Relapse, Gratitude, Give, Yes, and The seven reasons we get stuck. Lessons/Testimonies

  9. Every Friday at NLCOG at 6:30 for coffee, donuts, cookies and juice. At 7:00 p.m. we meet downstairs in the fellowship hall for worship to prepare ourselves for a lesson or a testimony. Afterwards, we break off into small groups gender specific, for an hour. At the conclusion of the small groups, we meet back in the fellowship hall for the Solid Rock Café hour and have a meal together which signify the importance of true fellowship. Schedule

  12. There are 8 principles based on the Beatitudes and 12 steps and their biblical comparisons. At the conclusion of lesson eight (Sponsor), you are ready to begin your inventory. This is Principle 4: Step 4: Inventory

  13. At the conclusion of lesson 14 (Yes), you are ready to write and give your testimony. This is Principle 8: Step 12: Testimonies
