This report discusses the viability of small-scale unrefrigerated cool storage for apple preservation, particularly suited for village-level use. A typical 96 cubic meter storage can be constructed from locally available materials and has a cost range of $6,000 to $8,000. It can store approximately 460 boxes of apples, allowing for storage during price increases from October to December, yielding a potential value of $2,250 for two months. Ongoing assessments aim to gather more data, while engagement with local agribusinessmen and fruit traders is underway to explore these storage options.
