    1. Shipping an Infectious Substance with PI 602 Shipping Large Quantities – for Cargo planes only (50 ml < sample < 4 L) (50 g < sample < 4 kg)

    2. PI 602 for large quantities (> 50ml) Make sure all necessary shipping components are present. Primary container watertight Absorbent material Secondary container watertight  Itemized Packing List Outer shipping container box bearing the appropriate UN markings DANGER cargo aircraft only sticker Shipping tape

    3. PI 602 for large quantities (> 50ml) Place sufficient absorbent material into the secondary container that can absorb the entire contents of the liquid shipment.

    4. PI 602 for large quantities (> 50ml) Place tubes into bubble-wrap sleeves. Tubes must be individually wrapped and not in contact with each other so only one tube per compartment.

    5. PI 602 for large quantities (> 50ml) Roll the sleeve containing the tubes and secure it with a piece of tape.

    6. PI 602 for large quantities (> 50ml) Place the bubble-wrapped primary containers into a suitable secondary container with sufficient absorbent material. Close and tighten the cover on the secondary container.

    7. PI 602 for large quantities (> 50ml) Place secondary container into the outer shipping container.

    8. PI 602 for large quantities (> 50ml) Label Shipping Container with: Shipper / Consignee / Name and Number of Person Shipping and Person Receiving 24 Hour emergency number to call in case if damage or leakage to the package (for US shipments) UN Number with Technical and Proper name Biohazard Label for Class 6.2 Dangerous Goods Orientation arrows (usually pre-printed on the box) DANGER cargo planes only Place labels on the box by following patterns outlined on the shipping container. Fill out Declaration of Dangerous Goods.
