  1. Anorexia By: Stephen Gaughran, Jack Egel, Luke Garrett, Jared Guo

  2. What is Anorexia? The definition of anorexia in my own words is a disease in which people have an unusual fear of eating, often time to remain skinny.

  3. Orgin Anorexia was recognised as a disease in the late 19th century. Research preformed by medical institutions show that anorexia can be from your heredity. It is a considered a mental illness often linked to depression.

  4. Signs and Symptoms Some specific signs of being anorexic is avoiding meal time or eating very little. Also over exercising while having malnutrition is a sign. These are often caused by environment factors such as bullying and being called over weight. These symptoms can lead to heart problems, cardiac arrest, low blood pressure, weak bones, a drop in blood pressure, and a reduction of organ size.

  5. Effects • The short-term managment is seeing a doctor weekly will help keep the individual from starting to starve themself • Statistics integrated into the data: Approximately 50% of newly diagnosed patients with cancer experience the symptom. • The individual will suffer from loss of needed nutrients which will affect the brain and other body parts. • family may become depressed from see the love one is such bad conditions. • seeing a doctor monthly will help keep the individual for going down a bad path.

  6. Treatment • Theropy is one of the main methods of treatment for anorexia. It looks for the cause of the patients depression and thier feel to need to lose weight when they are already dangerously thin. • A careful diet is given to the patient to increase bone strength and help them put on some well needed weight. • Exercise is highly not recommended during recovery. • Family and moral support is highly recommended. Over exaggeration of the patients physical figure will improve the patients self-esteem. • Depression medicine and vitimins are taken to cure the illness.

  7. WOW!!   Some weight loss diets are unhealthy, but some people eat in ways more harmful to their health. These people suffer from eating disorders which are eating behavoirs that can cause illness.

  8. WOW!!  People with anorexia see themselves as overweight even though they are underweight and dangerously thin.

  9. WOW!! Anorexic people sometimes suffer from food by skipping meals, only eating small amounts of food, weighing or counting calories, exersing excessively, and weighing themselves repeatedly.
