  2. The Colorado River did what? • Wore away rock and helped carve out the Grand Canyon The Colorado River carried sand, gravel, and boulders that helped cut out the canyon. Rainwater continues to dissolve certain kinds of rock causing it to wear away. River water is causing erosion. Also, sand is picked up by the wind and blown against the canyon’s walls, wearing away the surface of the rock.

  3. Why is the formation of the Grand Canyon always changing? Erosion takes place all the time.
