This program, which leads to the designation of International Commerce Specialist, covers the foundations of international trade. • Trade Education programming is held throughout the year on a variety of international business topics such as global sourcing strategies and international distribution agreements. Working in Partnership • Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development • The WTC-KY supports the Kentucky Cabinets role to create new jobs and investment in the State by assisting and growing existing businesses in the State through international exports and trade. • US Department of Commerce (USDoC) • The WTC-KY works in partnership with the USDoC to assist small-to-medium sized Kentucky companies new or ready to expand their international business presence. This is accomplished through trade education programming along with joint client meetings with includes reviews, assessments and market research.   19. Success Story: Hitcents Bowling Green Area Chamber learned Ed Mills, CFO of Hitcents was ready to pursue international business so they referred him to Kentucky’s export support network. The trade experts quickly linked Mills to the state’s STEP grant program and to the U.S. Export Assistance Center. With the United Kingdom as his target, Mills was then connected to the U.S. Embassy in Ireland for a “Gold Key” This innovative web/software development company successfully negotiated contracts with new Irish buyers—and is growing jobs at home in Bowling Green!
