Referred Cases 1,387 cases were referred to settlement conference. 1,168 conferences were paid for in Fiscal Year 2016-17. 856cases have been captured and are graphically displayed on the following charts. 528 cases are pending receipt of reports or actual conference. 3cases were cancelled before reaching conference.

  4. Agreement Rate 70.7 % of referred cases successfully reached an agreement either during or soon after the conference Note: This does NOT include pending cases

  5. Length of Conferences The average length of a conference is 3.4 hours.

  6. Referring Circuit Courts • Newport News has referred 6.5% of the cases during Fiscal Year 2016-17 • 31.4%of all FY16-17 cases were referred by 10 courts in the Tidewater Area (Hampton, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, James City/Williamsburg, Norfolk, Newport News, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, York and Chesapeake). • 68.6%of the cases in FY16-17 were referred by 71 other courtsacross Virginia. • A total of 81 circuit courts referred cases during the fiscal year.
