  1. Methods for studying Adipocyte Lipolysis • Whole-Body Lipolysis • Ra of glycerol in the bloodstream • Measuring the dilution of tracer-labeled glycerol in plasma (isotopic dilution) • Has some possible inconsistencies • Regional Lipolysis • Lipolytic activity can be assessed in individual tissues using arteriovenous methods • Evaluation of the balance between delivery and release of glycerol across adipose tissue bed. • Done by measuring arterial & venous glycerol concentrations and adipose tissue blood flow (ATFB) • Methods were arterial and venous catheterization and microdialysis probes. Schematic diagram of a microdialysis probe and the method used to collect samples

  2. More Measurement Techniques • Measurements of hormones, metabolite concentrations and blood lactate concentrations were measured by Goto via different methods • Epi & Ne measured with high performance liquid chromatorograph kits • Serum GH measured with radioimmunossay kits • Serum Insulin measured with Enzymic immunoassay • Serum FFA & Ketone Body measured with Enzymatic methods • Serum Glycerol measured with Enzymatic colorimetric • Lactate measured by pricking a fingertip for a blood sample
