  3. Mammals • Whales are the larges of all the mammals in the ocean. • Dolphins are said to be human like. • Ocean mammals have to come to the surface to breathe just like humans. • Ocean mammals don’t have scales.

  4. Whales • The shark whale is the largest animal in the ocean to date. • Whales breathe air through blow holes on the top of their heads. • Whales are warm blooded animals.

  5. Sharks • Sharks were swimming in the ocean long before dinosaurs. • Sharks don’t have bones, but cartilage. • The only know natural enemy to sharks are humans.

  6. Dolphins • There are forty different species of dolphin. • Some dolphins live near the shore, but most travel in herds of thousands in the deep ocean. • Dolphins give birth to one calf at a time.

  7. Starfish • Starfish have no front or back side. • Starfish don’t have muscles to move, but hundreds of tiny legs. • Starfish are very soft to the touch when they are alive.

  8. Manatees • All manatees eat sea line vegetation. • Manatees are nicknamed “Sea cow”. • Manatees can live as long as 50 to 60 years.
