  1. Providing Password Protection and Limited Access to Models and Applications FRAMES-2.0 Workshop U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Bethesda, Maryland November 15-16, 2007 Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Richland, Washington

  4. Purpose Provide the “user” (e.g., NRC) with the ability to limit access to models and conceptual site modeling scenarios 4

  5. Problem Description In context of FRAMES, a Domain represents a specific collection of models, usually created by a user for a special purpose (e.g., 3MRA Domain). Three locking options have been developed to limit the user’s ability to change models or Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) within FRAMES: • Models Associated with a Domain—lock the models within the Domain • CSM Simulation—lock the CSM simulation picture. Altering icons and the way in which they are connected to each other will not be allowed. • Model associated with an Icon Type—lock a specific model to a specific icon type. Only one applicable model will be available to the user, assuming the connections are valid. 5

  8. When the Domain is locked, the modules can be viewed along with their attributes, but they cannot be modified, updated, or changed in any way. 8

  9. If you want to unlock the Domains, you must enter a PC-specific Password 9

  10. 4742359 Using the Password Generator • Click HELP menu • Obtain CRC number • Run Password Generator • User enters CRC number • Click “Generate password” • “The installation CRC password” is automatically generated by the Password Generator. ^Ak^sMa@ 10

  13. By choosing “Lock,” the user can lock the CSM using a password, whose user input will be prompted by the system. Under File, choose Lock to lock the CSM 13

  14. Locked CSMs are password protected. 14

  16. Right-hand click on the module icon, and choose “Lock” if the user wants a specific model to always represent the icon. Locking Specific Models to Icons 16

  18. The padlock signifies that the model representing the icon type is locked. 18

  19. Once the model has been chosen and locked, “General Info” will be grayed out, not allowing the user to choose a different model. 19
