CLOUDS. Stratus. Stratus clouds are low sheets of gray clouds that cover the sky. Nimbostratus. Stratus can change into nimbostratus clouds. These clouds bring periods of rain. Any cloud with “nimb” in its name is a rain cloud. Cumulus.

  2. Stratus • Stratus clouds are low sheets of gray clouds that cover the sky.

  3. Nimbostratus • Stratus can change into nimbostratus clouds. These clouds bring periods of rain. Any cloud with “nimb” in its name is a rain cloud.

  4. Cumulus • Cumulus Clouds are puffy, white clouds. You see them in fair weather.

  5. Cumulonimbus • Cumulus clouds can grow tall on a hot, sunny day. They then become cumulonimbus clouds. These clouds are also called thunderheads. They bring thunderstorms and gusty winds.

  6. Cirrus • Cirrus clouds are the highest clouds. These thing clouds also appear in fair weather. They are so cold that they are made of particles of ice instead of drops of water.
