  1. Mar 2013 Friends of Warter School Spring Term Newsletter Fundraising Target • The Friends of Warter would like to thank you for supporting our fundraising events during this school year to date, which have been a great success. We have already raised a fantastic £1,474! Here is a quick update on recent activities, plus details about forthcoming events and our NEW Second Hand School Uniform shop. Back in October, the Harvest Festival Jarbola got us off to a great start, raising £302 and was fun for the children. Thank you to everyone who filled jars, some with very imaginative contents, and all those who bought tickets on the day. Jarbola Prizes • Christmas Cards designed by the children were really popular, raising £434, so we will be repeating those this year, but will start designing them even earlier (in September – eek!) so that we can get them printed and distributed to you in plenty of time for Christmas postage. Christmas Cards designed by the Children • We also produced calendars using some lovely photos of each class in and around the school. There are still a few calendars left to buy, available at the office, now priced atjust £1 so grab a bargain! They contain all the key school dates so are very handy to have. • At the end of term we held a Christmas Disco which was enjoyed by all and raised another £220 in December, followed by the Christmas Hamper Raffle which raised £516. Again we would like to say a huge “thank you” for all the donations. We were able to make a variety of hampers full of lovely goodies as raffle prizes which were given out to the lucky winners during the Nativity service at Church. - £5000 - £4000 - £3000 - £2000 - £1000 - £100 Warter School Calendar

  2. How is the money used? Since September we have paid £1658 towards school trips and will continue to pay 40% of trips to come. £500 has been spent on the parents text messaging service, £994 for reading books and £375 for the Magic Carpet Theatre. That is over £3500 already this school year. We are aiming to raise £5000 during the 2012/2013 year with your support. New – Second Hand Uniform Shop The Friends of Warter are introducing a uniform shop to help find a home for pre-loved uniforms. If you have any items that you no longer need, including clothing, hats, sports bags etc, could you please hand them to a Friends of Warter member or to the office. To check what is available at any time (as stock will change regularly, hopefully!), you can contact the shop in 2 ways, either by e-mailing Ali and Gemma at fow@warterschool.eriding.net or browse the shop on the 2nd Tuesday of each term in the school hall from 8.30am until 9.30am. The aim is to provide a useful service for parents and to recycle clothing. All items will be free but any small donations will be gratefully accepted. Warter Babies enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Fire Station • Dates for your Diary • Forthcoming Fundraising Events: • Easter Egg Tombola - Fri 22nd March • Sponsored Walk – Sun 21stor 28th April -TBC • Non Uniform Day – Fri 24th May • Sports Day Teas – Mon 24th June • Summer Fayre – Weds 3rd July Finally, we will be carrying out a brief survey asking for feedback on recent activities and any suggestions you may have for future fundraising. Please take the time to fill out the short questionnaire which we will be distributing at the parent consultation evenings on the 12th & 13th March for you to complete while you wait for your appointments. The Friends of Warter always welcome new members, even if you just want to help out with one event. Our next meeting will be held at school on Weds 10th April at 7pm if you would like to come along and get involved. • Thank you again for all your support The Friends of Warter School
