  1. Welcome Back to School Mrs. Bolin 7th Accelerated

  2. 7th Accelerated • HMH Consumable textbooks. (7th is blue, 8th is green) • On-line access to the book will be available once the individual student accounts have been loaded onto the system. • Students may write in the textbook and tear out pages.

  3. Practice and Assessment • Homework *Given as a practice to improve proficiency. It is always checked for accuracy, either by the students on the honor system, or by me for a grade. *Class work that is taken as a daily grade should be completed in class unless otherwise noted. • Quizzes *Checks for understanding *Given with or without notice, any day. *Double daily grade (30% of total)

  4. Practice and Assessment (cont.) • Tests/Major Grades *Test days are Wednesday & Friday *Notice is given via board, teacher’s web page, e-mails through grade book, text alerts through Remind 101 and verbally. *Remind: (240) 428-2832 (msg @8697c) or: www.remind.com/join/8697c *70% of grade

  5. Student Responsibilities • Prepare for class *Supplies (including your INB every day!) *Homework *Study for Tests • Show good citizenship in our learning community

  7. Information Sent Home • Advanced course contract has been sent home and returned. • The contact acknowledges that the student MUST maintain an 80 average or better to remain in the course after the 1st six weeks, and at semester.

  8. Technology Needs • Calculators – I have a class set of calculators for student use during class. We will use calculators only when working on 8th grade topics since they are not allowed to use calculators on the STAAR 7 test. • Computers – access through home, school computer lab, or Tomball Library is helpful, but not required.
