ITU-T Study Group 2 • Operational aspects of service provision, networks and performance • ENUM • Internationalized Domain Names • Country Code Top Level Domains • IPv6 deployment 5th Annual Meeting for Telecom Development, Beirut
ITU-T Study Group 3 • Tariff and accounting principles including related telecommunications economic and policy issues • Interconnection rate harmonization. • Reduce the cost impact for operators while also giving a better deal to end-users. • Reduce monopoly of Internet traffic flow • Cost sharing for international circuits • Objective to help countries with low internet traffic 5th Annual Meeting for Telecom Development, Beirut
ITU-T Study Group 4 • Telecommunication management, including TMN • Network management is key for operators wanting to maximise network investment and guarantee QoS. • Development of network management tools using Telecom Mark-Up language (tML) • Web based management for billing, telemetry and telecom equipment. • More of a focus on IP network management principles for NGN. 5th Annual Meeting for Telecom Development, Beirut
ITU-T Study Group 5 • Protection against electromagnetic environment effects • Electro Magnetic Fields (EMF) – guidelines to operators on the distance that base stations can be safely placed from people. • Telecommunication equipment resistibility to environmental factors • Powerline Communication • New topic - telecoms for cars 5th Annual Meeting for Telecom Development, Beirut
ITU-T Study Group 6 • Outside plant • Implementation and installation of facilities for access installation and protection. • Development of Recommendations that allow for multiple services – ISDN, ADSL etc - to be carried over the same cable. 5th Annual Meeting for Telecom Development, Beirut
ITU-T Study Group 9 • Integrated broadband cable networks and television and sound transmission • ITU-T Rec. J.202 is a new standard that allows content providers to roll out value-added interactive TV (iTV) services to any network without modification • ITU-T Rec. J.170 is aimed at increasing security in cable networks that might be vulnerable to denial of service, theft of service... • Recommendations that cover Internet over cable, VoIP over cable, videoconference over cable are all important issues. 5th Annual Meeting for Telecom Development, Beirut
ITU-T Study Group 11 • Signalling requirements and protocols • Signalling support for fixed line Next Generation Networks (NGN) • Work on how Intelligent Network principles can be supported in NGN • Bearer independent call control - BICC • Virtual home environment • In the future eleven may look at alternatives to ATM in the backbone 5th Annual Meeting for Telecom Development, Beirut
