  3. “Grow Your Own” Leader • Person who controls or influences what other people do : a person who leads a group, organization, country, etc. • Inspires, Motivates and Influences the behavior and work of others • Wins Followers (Followed) • Creates Teams • Makes heroes of everyone around them • Gives Credit • Develops power with people • exhibits character while accomplishing tasks such as empathy, collaboration, seeking solutions, taking initiative, helping others, good decision making. • Shows you how the work is to be done • Someone who has a vision for whomever or whatever they are leading. They also possess the skills to motivate and encourage people. A Leader typically can see the big picture and plans for unexpected circumstances. Manager • Someone who is in charge of a business, department, etc. Someone who directs the training and performance of a team • Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the work of others • Have Employees (Rules) • Directs Group • Try to be Heroes • Take credit • Exercises power over people • deals with tasks; punctuality, accuracy, schedules, procedures, etc. • Oversees your work and time • Someone who supervises staff on their daily job responsibilities. I would say they focus more on the smaller picture while making sure routine responsibilities are being met. Their lack of vision will create micromanagement and focus on smaller problems that are not as important to the organization.
