  2. Approve the work program (technical and financial) • Assess project implementation, and if necessary, suggest reorientation of project activities • Promote synergies with other projects implemented at country and regional level • It goes beyond the SC meetings Role of the Steering Committee

  3. Scheduled frequency : every 6 months • Location rotated to different host countries every time • Host country’s Forest Service chairs the steering committee and supports the organization and facilitation • ONF-G and ONFI are responsible for the organization and facilitation of the steering committee • Potential duration : 2 days for the SC + 1 day for field visits & communication Organization of the Steering Committee

  4. For technical and scientific guidance: Working Groups will be set up to focus on the various project components • Discussion times with civil society : • Gather recommendations from civil society just before Steering Committee and Working Group meetings • And ensure transparent access to information and communication of results. Other discussion times within the project

  5. Two official members (institutions technical + political) per country/state: • IEF : Amapá’s Institute of Forestry • SEMA : Amapá’s Environment Ministry • GFC : Guyana Forestry Commission • OCC : Guyana’s Office of Climate Change • SBB : Suriname’s Foundation for Forest Management and Production Control • NIMOS : National Institute for Environment and Development in Suriname • ONF-G : Office National des Forêts - Direction RégionaleGuyane • RégionGuyane : French Guiana Region Composition of the Steering Committee (1/2)

  6. Donors: • FFEM (AFD, French Embassy) • FEDER, European Union • Region Guyane • Observers: • World Wildlife Fund (WWF) • Conservation International (CI) • Guiana Shield Facility (GSF) • Additional ad-hoc observers from the country where the Steering Committee is held Composition of the Steering Committee (2/2)

  7. Approval of the Steering Committee’s composition and role • Date of the next Steering Committee meeting • Proposal: mid-december 2013 • Host country? To validate
