  2. AREAS OF TRANSFORMATION • MIND • CHARACTER • RELATIONSHIPS • HABITS • SERVICE • INFLUENCE.

  3. TRANSFORMED MIND: Believe What Jesus Believed. • Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is true worship. 2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. • Romans 12: 1 - 2

  4. The Broken Mind • 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year. • Mixed anxiety and depression is the most common mental disorder in Britain. • About 10% of children have a mental health problem at any one time. • Depression affects 1 in 5 older people. • Suicides rates show that British men are three times as likely to die by suicide than British women. • Self-harm statistics for the UK show one of the highest rates in Europe: 400 per 100,000 population

  5. The Restored Mind • “We are perfectly useless as Christ-exalting Christians if all we do is conform to the world around us”. • John Piper

  6. 2 Corinthians 3: 17 - 18 • “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedomAnd we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” • 2 Corinthians 4:4 • “The god of this world [Satan] has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ.”

  7. TRANSFORMED CHARACTER: Live the Way Jesus Lived. • "Character is what you are in the dark." • D L Moody • Key Principle: We demonstrate Character and integrity when we do what we say and act out what we believe.

  8. Christian Character Defined • Character is who we are and it can be learned and built when we are in Christ. • Christian character is a description of who we are as a Christian. • It encapsulates the FRUIT of the Spirit.

  9. David, Nabal & Abigail. • 1 Samuel 25. • Abigail was a woman who had great character and discernment. • She was the complete opposite of her husband Nabal.

  10. Is Good Character In You? • Real genuine Christian character is shaped when you surrender to the Lordship of Jesus • Building and developing character takes time. • And practice!

  11. Conclusion. • Being a Christian is more than just believing in Jesus. • It is a lifelong process of being transformed. • Today we have looked at transformation of our MIND and of our CHARACTER.
