Project Requirements A brief (5-8 slide) PowerPoint presentation will be used for your project which will be worth 50% of your grade In an oral presentation, articulate your interpretation of the meaning of the lyrics using the poetic and literary devices we have discussed Remember to use TPCAST The song you choose must be school-appropriate between 1990-1950. Inappropriate references will disqualify your choice Submit song title for final approval before beginning Graphics in your presentation are highly encouraged

Performer History Include a brief background of the performer(s) Include time period of performer(s) Include the title of the song, year the song was published, album name, and any other information that may be helpful Include pertinent/meaningful information which makes this group/performer noteworthy Include graphics, pictures, etc. Allowed are also sound clips from different songs from this performer(s)

Song • Include song lyrics • Include the song • Either as a sound clip or play it for us • Be prepared to discuss and explain the following: • Why did you choose this song? • What about it makes it unique? • Does this song say something about you or your life? • Does this song have special emotional value? • Of the following, which do you think dominates this song and why: • Ethos (credibility or ethical appeal) • Pathos (emotional appeal) • Logos (logical appeal)

Lyrical Content • Does the song contain the following: • Imagery • Figurative Language (simile, irony, hyperbole, personification, etc.) • Rhyming • Alliteration • Assonance • Consonance • Mood • Tone • Allusion • Theme-What does the song mean to you? • Your responses to this will be formatted as follows: • Imagery: “the line from your song which contains imagery” • Explanation of why/how it was used

  6. Final Submission The due date for this project will be Monday, October 31st . You will present on this day. Save your presentation in a USB/flashdrive OR you may email this powerpoint to me at marisabriseno@sharylandisd.orgBY MONDAY, October 31st. If it’s not emailed to me by that date then I will assume you will bring it in a USB drive
