  3. Sub-Regional Pilot • A cunning plan! • 8 Boroughs involved – Newham, Tower Hamlets, City and Hackney, Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Greenwich and Havering • Sharing of resources and Best Practice utilising local, regional and national examples

  4. Focus on Alcohol IBA • Alcohol IBA: Identification and Brief Advice • Understanding your data to gather intelligence • Reviewing admission protocols • Training relevant A&E staff • Improving A&E data collection on alcohol-related presentations

  5. High Impact Changes • Work in partnership • Develop activities to control the impact of alcohol misuse in the community • Influence change through advocacy • Improve the effectiveness and capacity of specialist treatment • Appoint an Alcohol Health Worker in A&E • IBA – Provide more help to encourage people to drink less • Amplify national social marketing priorities

And it’s not just hospitals… • Good quality alcohol education for children and young people • Early identification and intervention - IBA in Primary Care settings (DES) • Specialist community based treatment • Social marketing and campaigns • Sharing data with Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP)

  7. What to do next… • Identify your Senior Analyst • Identify key A&E staff • Identify key data staff involved with data collection at A&E • Share your experiences and learning with Newham and the rest of the pilot area
