He is the struggler, the martyr and the leader Mohammed Lakhdar Amara known as (Hamma Lakhdar), he was born in a village called Djedida belonging to the municipality of Debila within the year 1930, in a rural conservative family which rooted in religious and national values, their members live on herding sheep and camels in the desert neighboring to El Oued , they settled on some days of the year, his father took him into the Mosque where he kept some of the Koran's Surats, but he ceased for practicing grazing till the age of twenty. Because of loving the adventure, revolting on the bad situation, as well as responding to the injustice of colonizer, he travelled with a new spirit to the city of Gafsa, Tunisia, in order to bring some weapons.

  4. As the revolution broke out, he engaged it, and became a leader for a number of battles, the most important of them was the battle of HassiKhalifa on November 17th , 1954. It was the first Algerian revolution battle that immortalized the area of Oued Souf with its revolutionary feats, and made it a pioneer in this field. On March 15th 1955 , he led the battle of SahanErretem under the command of the Auras, and the battle of Hood Chika falling within the latest events of August 20th 1955. As he was sent by the general command in a patrol for the collection of weapons, a sudden circumstances forced him to fight the battle, led by him : it was one of the biggest Algerian revolution battles, in which France used the aircrafts, the equipments and hundreds of soldiers and foreign rabble forces. That battle lasted from 8th to 10th of August 1955, in which Hamma Lakhdar and the most of his battalion’s members martyred. It was a battle to which the French ruler came by himself to shed tears on dozens of French soldiers who were killed in the battlefield.

  5. 2.City of a Thousand Domes El Oued  (Arabic:اﻟﻮادي‎‎, meaning the Valley) or Oued Souf is a city, and the capital of El-Oued Province, inAlgeria. The Oasis town is watered by an underground valley ; hence its name is El Oued which enables date palm cultivation and the rare use (for the desert) of brick construction for housing. As most roofs are domed, it is known as the "City of a Thousand Domes". El Oued is located 400 miles (640 km) south east of Algiers (the capital city of Algeria), near the Tunisian border.
