  9. The telephone was invented on March 10, 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. Alexander Graham Bell made the first phone call to his assistant Thomas Watson. Alexander assistant was in the next room when he tested his experiment. In 1919 the Bell System companies installed a rotary dial (the finger wheel of the dial). This phone was out when mostly everyone had phones. 1947 The North America number plan began. Telephone customers were growing rapidly so AT&T and the bell companies develop a system that assigned telephone numbers to customers. 1963 the telephone had 10 buttons to replace rotary device. Then 12 with the # and * button By 1971 Motorola made the first portable cell phones were made and the first prototype of caller id was installed. 1995 caller id became world wide telephones have changed a lot over the years from beeps and taps to words Bibliography
