  15. Tom's wonderful idea • Why did Tom pretend not to see Ben when Ben came and watched him painting? Because he wanted to show how much he enjoyedpainting the fence.

  16. Tom's wonderful idea How do you know? While Ben was watching Tom paint with great interest, he was getting more and more eager to have a try himself. After a while, Ben asked Tom if he would let him paint a little. He even offered him an aple for a chance to paint.

  17. Tom's wonderful idea Did Tom let Ben paint right away? Why? No, he didn’t. Because he wanted to show Ben that it was not easy to paint well, and it had to be done with great care.
