Counting In Big Groups. Richard Y Mitchell. Counting. Sometimes it is hard to count when there are so many objects in the way to distract the counter. That is when you can separate the groups into different sections and then add the sections together.

Counting • Sometimes it is hard to count when there are so many objects in the way to distract the counter. • That is when you can separate the groups into different sections and then add the sections together. • Soon it will become easier to count the different groups without separating them. • Here is an example of using groups. • Counting yellow circles 1+1+1+1=4 1 1 1 1 1

  3. Now Lets Try Something A Bit Harder • Let us start with a small group and work up from there. • Can you count how many blue balls there are? • Click on the correct answer

  4. When there is a multiple amount to count just separate the section into different groups Now that they are in separate groups can you count how many blue balls there are? 2+1+0+1=4 1 0 1 2

  8. You Can do it!!! Separate into sections and then count the different colors. Count the yellow, blue, green, and white balls. Write the answers on a sheet of paper.

  11. Lets play Detective! In the class room the teacher has placed several ball on the walls. Can you find all of the balls? How many blue balls? How many yellow balls? How many green balls? How many white balls? Put your answers on a sheet of paper.

  14. Teams • Each team Section has a project already assigned to it. • The team will sort out each item according to color or type. • Then the team will count out each of the different objects • Once all of the project are completed the results will be turned for a grade A D B C G E F
