  1. Multiple Indicator Cluster SurveysData Processing Workshop Supervisor’s Menu MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  2. Purpose of the Supervisor’s Menu • Assign keyers to clusters • Executes supervisor’s applications ...and displays results • Transfers and backs up files • Creates field-check tables • Exports files to SPSS • Allows entry of GPS data MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  3. Starting The Supervisor’s Menu • Double-click on super_menu.pff • create shortcut on desktop • First screen asks supervisor to enter a cluster number CCC MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  4. The Supervisor’s Menu MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  5. Enter Cluster Tracking Information: T • Purpose: • enter tracking information for cluster • Actions • displays menu to choose what information to enter • opens cluster tracking information entry screen • cluster tracking information stored in cluster_tracking.dat MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  6. Check Data Structure: A • Purpose: • Check structure of a cluster’s main data file • Actions • copies MCCC.DAT from \mics4\cspro\data to \mics4\cspro\raw • executes structure check application • displays results MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  7. Verify the Data: C • Purpose: • Verify a cluster’s data file • Actions • compares mics4\cspro\raw\MCCC.DAT to mics4\cspro\veri\VCCC.DAT • displays list of differences MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  8. Backup the Raw Data: D • Purpose: • Back up a cluster’s checked and verified data file • Action • copies MCCC.DAT from mics4\cspro\rawmics4\cspro\backup MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  9. Run Secondary Editing Program: E • Purpose: • Provide list of inconsistencies for secondary editor • Actions • executes secondary editing application • displays list of inconsistencies MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  10. Modify the Data: F • Purpose: • Allow supervisor to implement changes requested by secondary editor • Action • executes data entry application in modify mode • uses input file mics4\cspro\raw\MCCC.DAT MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  11. Backup the Final Data: G • Purpose: • Back up a cluster’s checked, verified and edited data file • Action • copies MCCC.DAT from mics4\cspro\raw to mics4\cspro\final MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  12. Export the Data to SPSS: H • Purpose: • Export all completed clusters’ data files to SPSS • Actions • copies all data files in mics4\cspro\final to mics4\cspro\all.dat • executes export application using all.dat as input • creates SPSS data and description files in mics4\spss MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  13. Enter GPS Data: I • Purpose: • Enter GPS data • Action • executes GPS data entry application in add mode • adds cases to mics4\cspro\gps\gps.dat MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  14. Modify GPS Data: J • Purpose: • Modify GPS data • Actions • executes GPS data entry application in modify mode • uses input file mics4\cspro\gps\gps.dat MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  15. New Cluster Number: N • Purpose: • allow supervisor to work on a new cluster • Actions • displays cluster number screen • changes value of CCC MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  16. View Cluster Tracking Info: V • Purpose: • Provide overview of the status of all the clusters • Actions • displays cluster tracking information screen MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  17. Field Check Tables: P • Purpose: • Generates field check tables based on the data files in the \raw folder • Action • executes mics4\cspro\super\cfldck.bch • creates mics4\cspro\super\cfldck.lst

  18. Quit: Q • Purpose: • quits supervisor’s menu gracefully • Actions • closes CSPro • deletes file justone.txt MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  19. Changing from Network to a Flash drives • For some countries, data entry computers will not be networked • Data copied to a flash drive instead of shared drive • If this is the case in your country: • go through the data entry menu application • make changes indicated by the comment!!! network !!! MICS4 Data Processing Workshop

  20. Modifying the Supervisor’s Menu • Change language in errmsg and display functions • Change language in accept functions • Check parameters in SUPER_FF preproc; change if necessary • Change cluster number in two places; look for comment: !!! CLUSTER !!! • Check date in PROC TRECVY, TENTRYY, TVENTRYY • After modifications: Delete cluster_tracking.dat !!! MICS4 Data Processing Workshop
