  2. Chapter 1.7 Earth and the Sun • The Moving Earth • The Earth is constantly moving in two ways • Revolution – The Earth revolves around the Sun in an Orbit once a year • The Earth spins (Rotates) on its Axis once each day

  3. Chapter 1.7 Earth and the Sun • The Earth tilts • The Earth is tilted 23.5° • This causes the change in seasons • It also means that only the area in the Tropics get’s direct sunlight. • The seasons are opposites in the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.

  4. Chapter 1.7 Earth and the Sun • The tropical and polar zones • The Tropics are located between 23.5° N Lat. And 23.5° S Lat. • The Tropics are hot all year • The Polar Zone is located North of the Arctic Circle 66.33° N Lat and, South of the Antarctic Circle 66.33° S Lat
