Valley of Flowers The Valley of Flowers, located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its breathtaking natural beauty and rich biodiversity. Situated at an altitude of around 3,658 meters, this high-altitude Himalayan valley blooms with over 500 species of alpine flowers during the monsoon months, typically from July to early September. The valley is a haven for nature lovers, botanists, and trekkers, offering mesmerizing views of snow-capped peaks, waterfalls, and lush meadows. The trek to the Valley of Flowers begins from Govindghat, leading to Ghangaria and then further into the valley, making it a moderate-level trek that usually takes 5–6 days. Along the way, travelers may also visit nearby attractions like Hemkund Sahib, a sacred Sikh pilgrimage site, and the scenic town of Joshimath. The valley is also home to rare Himalayan wildlife, including the elusive snow leopard, musk deer, and various colorful birds.
