The system of occupational health services in Vietnam: • State management: • Preventive Medicine Department, Ministry of Health • Provincial Preventive Medicine Centers; • Central and Provincial Occupational Diseases Committees • Carry out services: • Occupational Health Centers of Ministries. • Provincial and District Occupational Health Centers • Occupational Health Clinics

  4. Up to 2006, there are about: 50 occupational health centers 37 Occupational Health clinics (With total 570 staffs) Carry out Occupational Services for enterprises All the organs, centers and clinics have to submit annual report to Preventive Medicine Dept.

  5. The result of health check up for workers In 2006, Only 3854 enterprises (17.3 % of the total reported enterprises) organized health check up for 469,931 workers (30 % of the total reported workers). Source: Preventive Medicine Dept.

CONCLUTION • There were 82.7 % of the total reported enterprises not organize health check up. • 70 % of their workers did not have health check up and occupational diseases examination; • Workers classified as weak and very weak categorizes is still at high level (9 to 12.5 %). • The prevalence of some common occupational diseases is still at high level • A lot of workers suffering occupational diseases have not received insurance compensation.
