About CUPE • Officers: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Sargent-at-arms. • Dues: 1.25% per month. • Regular membership meetings on the first Wednesday in October and February at 6:00p.m. • An Annual Membership Meeting on the first Wednesday of March at 6:00pm to install the new Officers of the Local and to present and approve the Annual Budget.

  5. Collective Agreement • Term: September 2011 – August 2013 • Number of GA ships: • Minimum 3 for Masters • Minimum 7 for PhD • Or the number mentioned in the Offer Letter • The number which one is more, you will get that

How It Works • You have to get the 1st one of 140 hours. • If you get the 1st one, then you should get • 2 more GAships or 2*140 = 280 more hours (altogether 420 hours) of GAship minimum for Masters candidates. • 6 more GAships or 6*140 = 840 more hours (altogether 980 hours) of GAship minimum for PhD candidates.

  7. Evaluation • Any Assistant whose performance has been judged as unsatisfactory will receive suggestions for improvement. Such suggestions will be put in writing and a copy will be forwarded to the Assistant and the Union.

  8. Criteria • Academic status of the GA candidate, such that greater preference within the AAU is accorded, in order of priority, first to Doctoral Candidates, then Master’s Candidates (MII) • Academic performance • Teaching and other relevant experience, which is defined as any experience(s) that can be applied or deemed useful to the duties and responsibilities of an Assistant and • Previous positive evaluation of performance as an Assistant at the University of Windsor, if applicable.

  9. Maximum Number • Depending upon: • Governmental Funding • Registration for the term • Satisfactory Performance • For Masters – After the minimum 3 GAships students can apply for the 4th one. • For PhD – After the minimum 7 GAships students can apply for the 8th one.

  10. Exemptions • Semesters while a student is on an approved leave of absence (as per Article 16:05), co-op terms or sessional appointment do not count towards the total exemptions a student is permitted. In such cases, students may decline offers of appointment without penalty. • Masters – 1 max • PhD – 3 max
