  2. About Me • ~1,000 hour private pilot, SEL, SES, Inst • Renter • Some experience as volunteer webmaster for an aviation non-profit • Seaplane rating in ’94 • Nowhere to rent a seaplane • 2005 bought a lake home in WI • 2006 started to look for a seaplane

  3. Seaplane Need • (Relatively) limited budget (~$90k) • 2 missions: • To/from lake home (~200 nm) in most weather • Landing on water

  4. Options: • (Relatively) inexpensive IFR land plane plus inexpensive floatplane (LSA?) • IFR-capable amphibian • Looked at Cessna on amphibs • Most too expensive • No carrying capacity

  5. Lake Amphibian • Good load capacity • Decent speed • Decent IFR platform • MUCH less expensive • What’s wrong with this picture?

  6. Looking for info – little to be had • No factory website • A few maintenance shop and sales sites • Few resources found in search engines • Stumbled across LAFC • Application form hidden • $90 to join LAFC, simply for access to the forum • JUST TO SEE IF THE AIRPLANE IS FOR ME!?
