    1. “Common Sense Questions A Church of Christ Preacher Cannot Answer?” Such is the title of an article that David Martin has published on the Web at biblebelievers.com. We will continue to answer David Martin's questions which he believes are unanswerable. We must realize, that Christianity is a religion that demands warfare, but such is not carnal warfare. It is spiritual in casting down arguments. One reason why we have lessons like these is beside being ready to give a defense for the hope that is in us, we must be willing to wage the warfare against false doctrine. It is required of us to cast down arguments. Such is the title of an article that David Martin has published on the Web at biblebelievers.com. 2. “If as a Christian I can sin so as to ‘lose my salvation,’ just what sin or sins will place me in such danger? Is it possible to know at what point one has committed such a sin, and become lost again? Please be specific and give clear Bible references.” Martin’s Unanswerable Questions We have previously answered questions 1-4. Today we will pick up on question 5. What is a clear Bible reference? There are so many that it is hard to limit them for this lesson. We have previously answered questions 1-4. Today we will pick up on question 5. What is a clear Bible reference? 3. Answer: 21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’ 22 "But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire. Matthew 5:21, 22 [Explain Jesus is speaking of disciples, not infidels, then CLICK] Jesus condemns things less than murder here as being in danger of judgment. That is the overriding point that I want you to consider but also note it is the context of which these things are done that make them sinful. Anger is sinful when it is without a valid cause and when it is without control. There is an anger that is justified and proper and there is an anger that is not justified and improper. Jesus had a look of anger in Mark 3:5. Was Jesus in danger of the judgment? No. However, uncontrolled anger can be a species of murder and must be guarded against (1 Jn. 3;15). Before Cain killed Able, what was his disposition identified as by God in Genesis 4:6)? Next Jesus speaks of “Raca.” Those who say such to their brother are in danger of the council, lit. the Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin was set up a couple hundred years before Christ came and was composed of chief priests, elders and scribes. They would render judgment to men over various issues. Recall how they judged Jesus and Stephen. The Sanhedrin was considered the highest court among the Jews at that time. To call your brother “Raca” then would be like calling him “shallow brained” or “empty headed.” It is used in a derogatory and insulting way. I don’t know that it could ever be used in a righteous way. “Fool” is a word that, like anger, can be employed either correctly or incorrectly. The context bears out whether it is used appropriately or not. Jesus referred to some as fools (Matt. 23:17, 19). David warned, “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God. . . .’” (Ps. 14:1). Solomon stated “. . . a prating fool will fall” (Prov. 10:8) and “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes. . .” (Prov. 12:15). In fact, Solomon uses the term “fool” more than any other (56 times). That doesn’t include all the times he uses “foolish.” God called the rich man a fool in Lk. 12:20. Jesus called the two on the road to Emmaeus “foolish ones” (Lk. 24:25). Paul called the brethren in Galatia “foolish Galatians” (Gal. 3:1). Peter called us to put to silence the ignorance of foolish men (1 Pet. 2:15). James called a person who believes in faith only as a foolish man (Jas. 2:20). Our Lord's point seems evident to me that men have made laws and restated laws that are in accord to themselves. The Sanhedrin may condemn a person for saying "raca." And others taught that "murder" will condemn you to judgment (which is true). But Jesus teaches that things less than murder can put you into the fires of hell too. Recall how he later taught that we shall give account for our idle words (Matt. 12:35, 36)? We may not kill a man with a sword, but we can assasinate him wrongfully with our tongue![Explain Jesus is speaking of disciples, not infidels, then CLICK] Jesus condemns things less than murder here as being in danger of judgment. We may not kill a man with a sword, but we can assasinate him wrongfully with our tongue!

    4. Martin (Baptist) Versus Jesus (Christ) MARTIN A BROTHER CANNOT BE IN DANGER OF JUDGMENT NO SPECIFIC SINS THAT CAN MAKE A BROTHER LOSE HIS SOUL JESUS A BROTHER CAN BE IN DANGER OF THE JUDGMENT IDENTIFIED SPECIFIC SINS THAT CAN MAKE A BROTHER LOSE HIS SOUL

    5. Sam Morris (Baptist) Versus John (Apostle) “We take the position that a Christian's sins do not damn his soul. The way a Christian lives, what he says, his character, his conduct, or his attitude toward other people have nothing whatever to do with the salvation of his soul....All the prayers a man may pray, all the Bibles he may read, all the churches he may belong to, all the services he may attend, all the sermons he may practice, all the debts he may pay, all the ordinances he may observe, all the laws he may keep, all the benevolent acts he may perform will not make his soul one whit safer; and all the sins he may commit from idolatry to murder will not make his soul in any more danger” (Sam Morris, Do A Christian's Sins Damn His Soul?)

    6. Sam Morris (Baptist) Versus John (Apostle) “Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him” (1 Jn. 3:15)

    7. “If as a Christian I can fall and ‘lose my salvation,’ is it possible to regain it? If so, how? If God ‘takes away’ my salvation, doesn't that make Him an ‘Indian giver’? How could I ever know for sure that I was saved or lost?” Martin’s Unanswerable Questions

    8. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REGAIN SALVATION? IT IS POSSIBLE FOR ONE TO BE SAVED AND THEN LOST “Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it” (Heb. 4:1) “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever” (1 Chron. 28:9)

    9. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REGAIN SALVATION? IT IS POSSIBLE TO REGAIN SALVATION AFTER IT WAS LOST “Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you” (Acts 8:22) This is a part of the good news that we bring to those who are Christians. Though we sin, we may find forgiveness still when we betray Christ if we will only repent and pray for forgiveness. This is a part of the good news that we bring to those who are Christians. 10. Acts 8:13

    11. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REGAIN SALVATION? IT IS POSSIBLE TO REGAIN SALVATION AFTER IT WAS LOST “Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you” (Acts 8:22) “Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you” (Rev. 3:3) This is a part of the good news that we bring to those who are Christians. Though we sin, we may find forgiveness still when we betray Christ if we will only repent and pray for forgiveness.

    12. God Is Not An “Indian Giver” when he gives a “saved man” doom for turning away from Him (Ezek. 18:24) when he gives a “doomed man” salvation for turning to Him (Ezek. 18:21-23) HE IS GIVING THEM EXACTLY WHAT HE PROMISED!

    13. After becoming a Christian, are there any sins that will put me beyond the "point of no return" so that I cannot regain salvation? What sin or sins will put me in such jeopardy, so that, after becoming a Christian, I would be doomed to hell without any recourse? Please be specific and give me clear Bible references. Martin’s Unanswerable Questions

    14. ANSWER: “If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that. All unrighteous-ness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death” (1 Jn. 5:16, 17) Is this a clear enough Bible reference? THREE THINGS stepping out of the light is sin (1 Jn. 1:6) remaining in darkness is a sin leading to death confessing and repenting from dark deeds makes it a sin NOT leading to death (1 Jn. 1:9)Is this a clear enough Bible reference? 15. “If I committed some sin -whether in thought, word, or deed, one minute before a fatal car crash - would I go to hell if I did not have time to repent of it? And, please, don't just say that it's up to God without giving me a specific Bible reference. Martin’s Unanswerable Questions

    16. Why does the "Church of Christ" insist that their name is scriptural when it cannot be found anywhere in the Bible? The church is referred to as the "church of God" eight (8) times in the Bible, but never is it called the "church of Christ." The verse they use is Romans 16:16, but it doesn't say "church of Christ." Where does the Bible call the church the "church of Christ"? Martin’s Unanswerable Questions

    21. Answer: You could just about preach a sermon on “16’s” that are hated by Baptists. One is Mark 16:16 and the other is Romans 16:16. Of course every premillenial Baptist would likewise not care for Luke 16:16 which teaches the Kingdom of God was there in the first-century.You could just about preach a sermon on “16’s” that are hated by Baptists. 22. My Challenge to David Martin Why does David Martin insist that “Rock Solid Baptist Church” is scriptural when he cannot find that name in the Bible? Where does the Bible call the church “Rock Solid Baptist Church?” How can it be “rock solid” when the church is nowhere called “Baptist” by the Lord? Numerous terms are used in the scriptures of God’s people, but “Baptist Church” is NOT one of them! No literature mentions “Baptist Church” prior to 1600 AD!

    23. "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."

    24. 25. Matthew 7:24-27 A man who builds his house on the rock (obeys Jesus’ word) stands solid through the storm A church who builds upon the rock (obeys Jesus word) stands solid through the storm A man who builds his house on the sand (disobedient to Jesus’ word) falls A church who builds upon the sand is anything but rock solid One may be a “stone church” in name but actually a “sandy church” in practice!
