  3. Program Agenda • Fusion Applications File Based Integration • Why FCA? • FCA for FBL 1.1 • FCA Screenshots • Summary

  4. Load Batch Data and File Base Loader (FBL) Overview and Concepts

  5. Load Batch Data • A generic utility for loading data for a specific subset of HCM objects from external sources. • Load Batch Data used in several data-loading solutions including File Based Loader and Spreadsheet Data loader.

  6. Load Batch Data Two Step Process:

  7. File Based Loader • Load HR data from your source system to Fusion HCM • Uses Load Batch Data utility • Flat file based (pipe delimited) • The data must be delivered to staging tables in a format that satisfies Oracle Fusion Applications rules.

  8. File Based Loader File Based Loader • Support for Error Correction • Supports complex data objects with full date effective history • Supports Multiple Data Sources Load data from any source via Flat Files in Fusion Object Shape

  9. File Based Loader • Cross Reference • Business objects that originate in source system may reference other business objects that originate in Oracle Fusion HCM. • For these referenced Fusion business objects, a cross-reference is generated and must be used by the source system. • Examples: Enterprise, Legal Entities, Person Type, …

  10. File Based Loader • Lookups • Fusion Lookup values must be adopted and used in extracts from source system. • Examples: Action Type, Active/Inactive, Benefit Type, Ethnicity ... • GUID – Globally Unique Identifiers • 32 character e.g. DAAFA49C22DD165DE0432BA0FE89914D • Used in cross referencing

  11. File Based Loader • Import to Staging Tables Errors (FBL) • Typically, the errors are data-type conversion, precision, or length errors • Need to correct these errors in the source data before attempting to import the records to the stage tables again. • Import to Application Tables Errors (Load Batch Data) • Validations for data integrity and Fusion business rules • Can be fixed in Fusion staging tables or in Source system

  16. Why FCA?

  17. Why FCA? No Standard Tool is available for Non-AU source systems • Map the source configuration data with Fusion configuration data • Extract the Source data as per FBL requirements • Perform the basic validation of extracted Source data • Transform the source data into Fusion acceptable values • Generate the extract files (in fusion shape) to be loaded via FBL

  18. Why FCA? Many manual activities • Without a standard tool, each of the previous steps could encounter challenges, in a manual context, because the process need to handle three most important activities in the file preparation: • Validation of source data against Fusion staging data column attributes • Validation of source data against Fusion XREF and lookup data • Transforming the legacy values to Fusion Cross-Reference GUIDs

  19. Why FCA? Increased Conversion Time • Data issues identified during FBL runs necessitate data correction at source and thereby subsequent iterations of FBL execution. • Multiple occurrences of the data issues increases total duration of conversion execution in Staging environment • Time is directly proportional to Cost

  20. Fusion Conversion Assistant For FBL v1.1 Overview

  21. FCA Overview Fusion Conversion Assistant (FCA) • Excel based Solution to automate and control the process • Built specifically for Fusion HCM • Built for File based (FBL1.1) Loader • Caters for any source systems • Can be used for initial load (full) or subsequent load (incremental)

  22. FCA Overview FCA allows for • Loading Cross-reference data from Fusion • Data mapping between source system and Fusion HCM • Data Extraction from the Source database (in online mode) • Metadata driven basic data validation: • Data Type, Length, Scale, Mandatory Check • Lookup Data Check

  23. FCA Overview FCA allows for • Transforming the source data into Fusion values (GUID) • Generation of final zipped extract files • FTP’ing the final extract files to SFTP server • Invoking the FBL process without navigating to end-point URL • Support for 22 Business Objects supported by FBL v1.1

  24. FCA Overview • Extract data from Source into FCA Worksheet • Load XREF Files from Fusion • Add/Edit Lookup data • Map Fusion Setup data with Source data • Create data files and Zip them • Send the Zip file to SFTP Server • Invoke the FBL Service • Perform basic validation of Legacy data against Fusion XREF and Lookup • Transform Legacy values into Fusion GUID

  27. Supported Objects

  28. Benefits • Provides template worksheets for each business object where the source data can be copied to or directly extracted from the database through SQLs • Helps the user in identifying the potential data issues upfront and hence quicker data correction. • Saves a lot of effort in extract file creation and enables quicker execution of Data Conversion programs.

  29. Benefits • Helps to reduce repeated iterations of Data Conversion due to comparatively cleaner right loads from the beginning. • Reduces the manual activity in sending the file to SFTP and Invoking the FBL with required parameters • Has a potential to save total effort up to 40 - 50 %

  30. Future Enhancements • Auto-generation of GUIDs for upload into Fusion • Incorporation of Fusion Business Rules in the validation logic • Support FBL 1.2 and UCM (with Release 7)
