  3. Purpose of the project • To produce students who can function effectively as leaders in a global community.

  4. Purpose of today • To build support for this initiative among FCA staff and associated staff on campus • To gain enough material/ideas for an action plan to fulfill our project purpose

  6. Format of the day • Presentation from Shanton Chang, Melbourne University • Presentation of FCA student and staff perspectives on this issue • Discussion of what we can do and how we’ll do it

  7. Introduce Shanton and his expertise in relation to our project • A case study of something that’s working in Australia

  8. Where are we at in FCA at Victoria? • Curriculum mapping • Graduate destinations survey • Student and staff surveys

  9. What do student and staff survey results tell us?

  10. What does a student management assignment tell us?

  11. What initiatives have we tried so far? • GEE running successfully several years • International experience in courses • Cross-cultural communications in courses • ExcelL programme training – 6 from FCA in 2010 • Interventions in INFO 101, MARK 101, IBUS 201, IBUS 306 • Survey staff/students • Vic OE study

  12. In order to develop students’ international experience We need to develop an action plan that: • Builds staff acceptance • Builds student acceptance • Is doable/achievable • Meshes with our values Starting this July! Resources from SLSS
