Rainbow Kids Sustainable Development Project

Make children aware of sustainable development, focusing on social, ecological, and economic aspects. The Rainbow group aims to involve all kids in using their own products daily, earning money for their project and charity, promoting social, economic, and ecological values such as saving water, avoiding chemicals, teamwork, visiting farmers markets, and tending a school garden. Through activities like planting vegetables, drawing progress, organizing a mini-market, and learning from guest speakers, children learn about plant care, cooperation, environmental responsibility, and money management. The project includes a learning process through KWL charts and encourages children to reflect and plan future sustainable projects.

  4. Goals • To develop an awareness of what sustainable development is • Relate sustainable development to their own lives

  5. Learning process KWL Chart Teach the children importance of caring for plants and eachother.

  6. Project: -The children will plant their own vegetables and herbs in school garden. -Every fortnight, the children will draw their observations of plant’s progress. -They will name plant once a week. -They will keep a record of observations and make a chart. Learning Process

Outcome We teach them and they will discover: • How do plants grow and what they need (ecological) • How do you organise your own market (social and economic) • How they need to cooperate with each other (social) • Develop a shared responsibility for caring for the environment. (ecological) • Learn how to save and share money with others (social and economic)

  9. Rationale • Reflection on KWL chart • Suggestions for future projects: -expanding the garden -take care of animals -plant different seeds or flowers
