  7. Signs and Symptoms 1. Nausea 2. Vomiting 3. Abdominal pain 4. Trouble breathing 5. Changes in consciousness 6. Dizzy and weak 7. Irregular pupil size and abnormal skin color

  8. Care • Remove person from poison source • Check for life-threatening conditions • Call the Poison Control Center-1-800-222-1222. • Care for life-threatening conditions • Ask questions if victim is conscious. • Look for open poison containers.

  9. Anaphylaxis • Severe allergic reaction to a poisonous substance. • S & S-hives,swelling, rash,vomiting and trouble breathing.

  10. Care • Call 911 • Use an epinephrine pen • Monitor life threatening conditions

  11. Preventing poisoning • Keep products out of children’s reach • Use childproof safety caps • Use hazardous chemicals in well ventilated areas. • Wear protective equipment • Keep products in its original containers.

  12. Environmental hazards • Lightning: check the weather and plan ahead • Use 30-30 rule-when you see lightning count the time until you hear thunder. 30 seconds or less storm is within 6 miles. • Seek shelter • Wait 30 minutes after you hear the last boom of thunder. • Stay away from electrical equipment • Avoid metal
